Definitions of Provided Services

Child Focus, Inc. offers a wide range of prevention and community mental health services. Child Focus, Inc. provides community mental health services at 710 North High Street. Child Focus has also partnered with All About Kids Pediatrics, Georgetown Healthsource as well as Batavia Healthsource and Loveland Healthsource to provide community mental health services in their pediatric offices. Child Focus, Inc.’s office hours in Mt. Orab are 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Friday. Our phone number for Brown County services is (937) 444-1613. A detailed description of the community mental health services offered by Child Focus, Inc. is as follows:

 

Case Management (Qualified Mental Health Specialist)

Qualified Mental Health Specialist provide many types of services throughout Brown County as well as Highland and Adams County. They assist families with accessing community resources. Qualified Mental Health Specialist collaborate with schools, Juvenile Court, Department of Job and Family Services, and other community agencies to help coordinate services and advocate for children and families. They educate children and families about mental health issues. Qualified Mental Health Specialists may provide short-term support to families who are waiting for another needed service. They also provide short-term services for families who may have completed therapy, but still need some support. Qualified Mental Health Specialists provide these services through office visits, school visits, home visits, and/or phone calls.

 

Counseling/psychotherapy

Counseling, or therapy, creates a collaborative relationship between a therapist and an individual, family, or group, with a goal of problem resolution. The intent is to help the client or family change behavior or make decisions that will improve the quality of their life.

Individual/Family Therapy: This treatment occurs between the identified client, parent(s)/guardians(s), other family members, and a therapist addressing relevant issues with the goal of problem resolution. Therapists use a variety of therapy approaches depending on the age and needs of the client. Parents and caregivers involvement is a critical component of treatment.

Group Treatment: This treatment occurs with a group (typically 2-7 persons) of individuals with similar presenting issues.

 

Crisis Intervention

This service may be provided within 24 hours to children, adolescents, and their families when a child or adolescent is experiencing a crisis. A crisis assessment is conducted and a crisis plan is developed. The need for hospitalization is also assessed at this time. In addition to face-to-face services, Child Focus, Inc. also has a qualified therapist on call 24/7 to respond to and assess crisis situations that may occur after hours.

 

Diagnostic Assessment

Child Focus, Inc. offers psychological evaluations to assess a variety of presenting problems. Each evaluation is individually tailored to the child and family. The range of tests allows for assessment of learning problems, Attention Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum, and also can provide a better understanding of emotional and behavioral difficulties. Clinical interviews with the child and caregivers are important parts of the process. All findings, impressions, and intervention recommendations are presented to the family during an informing interview. This process typically takes 2-3 sessions. Children needing this service are currently seen in our Mt Carmel location in Clermont County.

 

Pharmacotherapy

This service provides psychiatric evaluations to children who may be in need of medication to treat mental health disorders. Pharmacotherapy services are available at the Mt. Carmel location in Clermont County.
